Youth Coordinator
Job Summary :
Inspire the spirit of Christ in the youth of St. Thomas the Apostle through effective communication, organization, and direction of the vibrant OTIS - Optimistic Teens Improving Society -Youth Group. The focus is to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus and to build a closer relationship of faith with God. Works collaboratively with volunteer adult leaders and staff members in a collegial spirit; promotes the sharing of individual gifts to the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community; leads by example, with genuine care and love, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, confidentiality, adaptability, and trust; while ensuring that the local Church remains true to her mission.
Reports to : Pastor / Pastoral Leader
Teams with : Volunteer Adult Leaders and CCD Coordinator
Supervises : Members of OTIS & Beyond OTIS
Responsibilities :
Coordinates and manages efforts and events of OTIS (Optimistic Teens Improving Society) as directed by Pastor and working with volunteer adult leaders.
Plans and leads OTIS nights after CCD classes (Bi-weekly) with support of volunteer leaders, providing faith-based learning, community building, prayer, and song suitable for youth grades 6th-12th.
Plans and coordinates special events
Schedules and plans local community service projects
Communicates with youth and parents in person, via e-mail and texting and through social media
Keeps OTIS Facebook page current and communicates with office staff to keep OTIS section of the church website current
Plans and leads events for young adults ages 16-30
Plans and coordinates Annual Summer Mission Trip (Grades 6th - 12th)
Register for Mission Trip
Arrange Mission Trip Transportation
Organize sufficient adult volunteers to accompany youth on Mission Trip
Fundraisers for Mission Trip
Track financials for Mission Trip
Recruit youth to participate in Mission Trip
