Description
St. George School is in search of a certified Full-Time Food Service Director for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking applicants who have cooking and baking experience, are active in their faith life, and have a strong work ethic. The Food Service Director will oversee our school's meal program, ensuring compliance with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidelines. The ideal candidate will manage food procurement, menu planning, kitchen operations, budgeting, and volunteer coordination to provide nutritious meals for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities :
Procurement & Compliance
Secure food vendors annually following DESE procurement procedures.
Track and provide required training per DESE guidelines.
Submit all necessary reports to DESE in a timely manner.
Meal Planning & Preparation
Develop and schedule monthly menus that meet NSLP nutritional standards.
Prepare and serve meals according to age-appropriate portion sizes.
Order food from vendors as needed to maintain meal service.
Kitchen Operations & Safety
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen that meets all health codes.
Ensure proper food storage, handling, and sanitation procedures.
Volunteer & Staff Coordination
Organize and manage daily kitchen volunteers.
Provide direction and support to ensure efficient meal service.
Financial Management
Track daily lunch totals, including full-price, free, and reduced meals.
Manage the food service budget, including paying bills and balancing the checkbook monthly.
Handle lunch payments, send billing statements to parents, and inform the principal of overdue accounts.
Additional Responsibilities
Prepare meals for the priest and principal as needed.
Support the school community with a positive and service-oriented approach.
Qualifications & Skills :
Certification in food service management or related fields preferred.
Experience in cooking and baking, preferably in a school setting.
Knowledge of NSLP guidelines and DESE regulations (or willingness to learn).
Strong organizational and financial management skills.
Ability to lead and coordinate volunteers effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant kitchen environment.

Work Schedule & Compensation :
This is a full-time position during the school year, with additional preparation as needed.
