About the Role
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix is seeking a skilled Audio Technician service provider/freelancer to support the broadcast team for our weekly live televised Mass airing on CW7 across Arizona and across social media. This position plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality audio for our live broadcast that reaches more than 50,000 viewers each week. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with a respectful understanding of Catholic liturgical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and manage audio equipment during our weekly Sunday broadcast (6:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.)
- Conduct thorough sound checks prior to broadcast to ensure optimal audio quality
- Monitor and adjust audio levels in real-time during the live broadcast
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently
- Provide live sound reinforcement for the Mass, ensuring proper balance and quality
- Coordinate technical logistics with the broadcast team
- Ensure all microphones, audio feeds, and sound equipment function properly
Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience in live sound engineering and broadcast audio
- Proficiency with digital mixing consoles, wireless microphone systems, and audio processing equipment
- Strong understanding of acoustics and sound reinforcement principles
- Excellent organizational skills for equipment management and logistics coordination
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Respectful of religious services and environments
- Basic understanding of Catholic Mass structure (or willingness to learn)
Work Schedule
- Must be available every Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Occasional flexibility may be required for special liturgical events
