About the Role
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix is seeking a skilled Graphics Technician service provider/freelancer to support the broadcast team for our weekly live televised Mass airing on CW7 across Arizona and across social media. This position is crucial for managing and executing all on-screen graphic elements that enhance our live broadcast, reaching more than 50,000 viewers each week. The ideal candidate will combine technical proficiency with attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and play out all graphic elements that are integrated into the live Mass broadcast
- Create, manage, and update lower thirds, titles, and other on-screen text as needed
- Execute graphics cleanly and accurately in a high-stress, rapidly changing environment
- Manage playback of pre-recorded content scheduled to air before and after the live Mass
- Ensure all pre-recorded segments transition smoothly to and from the live broadcast
- Coordinate with the director and production team to ensure timely graphic insertions and playback timing
- Quickly troubleshoot graphic and playback errors in collaboration with the producer
- Prepare and test graphic systems and playback equipment prior to broadcast
- Ensure all text is accurate with excellent spelling and grammar
- Maintain consistency with Diocesan branding guidelines
- Assist with preparation of graphic templates for regular use
- Organize and maintain pre-recorded content library for broadcast use
Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience with broadcast graphics systems and playback equipment
- Proficiency in operating graphics playout systems and video server operations for live productions
- Ability to manage accurate timing of pre-recorded content playback
- Strong typing skills with excellent spelling and grammatical accuracy
- Ability to work well independently while contributing effectively to the team
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to perform under pressure and adapt quickly to changing requirements
- Experience in live broadcast environments preferred
- Respectful of religious services and environments
- Basic understanding of Catholic Mass structure (or willingness to learn)
Work Schedule
- Must be available every Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Occasional flexibility may be required for special liturgical events
