About the Role
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix is seeking a skilled Remote Camera Operator service provider/freelancer to support the broadcast team for our weekly live televised Mass airing on CW7 across Arizona and across social media. This position is essential in capturing high-quality video footage for our live broadcast that reaches more than 50,000 viewers each week. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in robotic camera systems, a creative eye for composition, and a respectful understanding of Catholic liturgical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate remote/robotic cameras during our weekly Sunday broadcast
- Capture compelling, high-quality footage of the Mass with attention to composition and framing
- Anticipate and capture important liturgical moments with precision
- Conduct thorough camera tests and equipment checks prior to broadcast
- Monitor video quality and make real-time adjustments during the live broadcast
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently
- Coordinate with the director and audio technician to ensure seamless production
- Maintain awareness of the flow and structure of the Mass to anticipate key moments
- Ensure smooth transitions between camera angles and shots
Requirements
Qualifications
- Experience in operating remote/robotic camera systems for live broadcasts
- Strong understanding of video composition, framing, and visual storytelling
- Technical proficiency with broadcast camera equipment and control systems
- Keen eye for detail and commitment to visual excellence
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure in a live broadcast environment
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with the production team
- Ability to anticipate action and movement during the liturgical service
- Respectful of religious services and environments
- Basic understanding of Catholic Mass structure (or willingness to learn)
- Experience with multi-camera productions preferred
Work Schedule
- Must be available every Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Occasional flexibility may be required for special liturgical events
