Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 50 firm seeking a Conflicts Counsel to support the firm's critical risk management functions. This position is available in multiple offices, including California, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Washington, and Washington, D.C. The Conflicts Counsel team is responsible for preventing, mitigating, and addressing actual and potential ethical and business conflicts of interest by:
- Reviewing new business intake forms using proprietary software to ensure proper identification of all relevant parties.
- Conducting research using internal and external databases to vet prospective clients and other entities.
- Analyzing conflict reports to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest.
- Collaborating with attorneys and business professionals to gather and evaluate relevant information, apply rules of professional conduct, and draft and finalize conflict waiver and engagement letters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) required.
- Active bar license in the candidate’s resident jurisdiction.
- Law firm experience required, with a preference for conflicts of interest knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Familiarity with research tools such as Dun & Bradstreet, Lexis, Hoover's, Edgar, and LegalKey to interpret conflicts data.
- Ability to research and apply professional conduct rules across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong analytical skills to assess conflicts across corporate, litigation, bankruptcy, labor & employment, tax, and estate planning matters.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and firm professionals to resolve conflicts and finalize waiver letters.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and service orientation in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent decision-making with sound judgment, consulting with the Director of Conflicts and the Office of the General Counsel when needed.
- Experience with Intapp programs is preferred.

- This role operates in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and printers.
- Sedentary role with occasional walking and standing; must be able to lift objects up to 10 pounds.
- Requires close visual acuity for analyzing data, reading extensively, and working with a computer.
Compensation & Benefits:
- The salary range for this position varies by location:
- California & New York: $142,500 - $180,000
- Compensation is based on experience, education, licensure, geographic market, and business needs.
