Direct Counsel is seeking an Environment & Land Use Associate to join a highly regarded law firm in California.
We have an immediate opening for an associate with 2-5 years of experience in environmental and land use law to join a collaborative and well-established team. This role offers hands-on experience with high-profile projects and excellent career advancement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct land use and environmental due diligence.
- Advise clients on land use entitlements and environmental/resource permitting.
- Provide CEQA and NEPA counseling and compliance guidance.
- Defend zoning and/or environmental approvals in state and federal court.
- Work with various industries, including renewable energy, transportation, utilities, housing, and commercial development.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in land use and environmental law.
- Strong writing, analytical, and research skills.
- Admission to the California Bar is required.
- Experience with CEQA, NEPA, and environmental permitting is preferred.
Location & Compensation:
- This position is available in Los Angeles or Orange County.
- Salary range: $175,000 - $210,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Associates are eligible for various annual bonuses, including a 15% bonus of base compensation for meeting 1,850 annual billable hours (up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work included).
