Salary Range: $235,000 - $310,000
Direct Counsel is seeking a Labor & Employment Litigation Associate to join a prestigious firm’s Employment group. This position offers an opportunity to work on high-profile employment litigation matters, including class actions and single-plaintiff cases, while also providing strategic legal counsel to clients on complex workplace issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Defend employers in litigation matters, including class actions and single-plaintiff lawsuits involving wage and hour claims, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
- Manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Provide employment law advice and counseling to clients on compliance, risk mitigation, and best practices.
- Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including severance, non-compete, and executive compensation agreements.
- Conduct employment due diligence and advise on employment aspects of corporate transactions.
- Represent clients before administrative agencies, such as the EEOC and state labor boards.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Texas.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in labor and employment litigation.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws, including wage and hour laws and discrimination statutes.
- Experience handling class and collective actions is highly preferred.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
