Direct Counsel is seeking a Midlevel Litigation Associate to join a prestigious firm’s White Collar, Investigations, and Government Enforcement subgroup within its Litigation group. This role is based in either New York or Washington, D.C. and is ideal for an attorney with strong litigation experience in securities, regulatory, and white-collar matters.
About the Role:The associate will work on high-stakes litigation, government investigations, enforcement actions, and securities regulatory matters, advising clients across industries. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in federal and state courts, SEC investigations, DOJ enforcement actions, and internal corporate investigations.
Key Responsibilities:- Litigation & Investigations – Represent clients in securities litigation, regulatory enforcement actions, white-collar defense, and government investigations.
- Legal Research & Drafting – Prepare motions, briefs, investigative reports, and legal memoranda.
- Regulatory & Compliance Counseling – Advise clients on compliance with securities laws, anti-corruption statutes, and corporate governance regulations.
- Discovery & Depositions – Manage discovery strategy, take depositions, and prepare witnesses for testimony.
- Court Appearances & Negotiations – Represent clients in court hearings, settlement discussions, and enforcement proceedings.
- Client Strategy & Risk Assessment – Provide strategic guidance to clients on risk mitigation and legal exposure.
- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Admission to the New York and/or Washington, D.C. Bar.
- Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience, specifically in securities, white-collar defense, and regulatory matters.
- Law firm experience is required; federal clerkship experience is a plus.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to craft persuasive arguments.
- Strong case management skills, capable of handling complex litigation matters.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Hybrid work model – Regular in-office presence with some remote flexibility.
- Competitive salary range: $310,000 - $420,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
