Direct Counsel is representing a leading law firm seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join its Capital Markets department. This role focuses on commercial mortgage-backed securitization (CMBS) and requires experience in the origination, securitization, syndication, and/or participation of commercial mortgage loans and mezzanine loans. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in these areas and will have the opportunity to work on complex, high-value transactions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
This position is available in either the Charlotte, NC or New York, NY office, offering a unique opportunity to engage with a wide range of clients in the real estate and capital markets sectors.
Responsibilities

Assist in the origination, securitization, and syndication of commercial mortgage loans and mezzanine loans.

Review and negotiate loan agreements, securitization documents, and related transaction documents.

Provide due diligence support for commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions.

Work closely with senior attorneys and clients to structure, negotiate, and close complex real estate-related securities transactions.

Participate in the drafting of key documents, including credit agreements, participation agreements, and securitization documents.
Job Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial mortgage-backed securitization, origination, or syndication.

Strong background in real estate finance, including mezzanine loans, syndicated lending, or related capital markets transactions.

Excellent academic credentials and solid experience at a top law firm.

Salary and Compensation
The anticipated annual base salary for this position ranges from $235,000 to $390,000, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The firm offers a competitive salary package with opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
