Position Overview
The Insurance (Aging) Coordinator plays a critical role in the financial health of our organization by managing and resolving outstanding insurance claims. This team member ensures timely reimbursement by tracking aging reports, investigating unpaid claims, and following up with insurance companies to secure payment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the insurance aging report on a weekly basis.
- Identify unpaid or underpaid claims over 30, 60, and 90 days and initiate follow-up.
- Contact insurance carriers via phone, web portals, and written correspondence to resolve outstanding issues.
- Document all communication and claim status updates in the billing system.
- Resubmit or appeal denied claims as necessary with proper documentation.
- Collaborate with billing team members to identify trends in denials or delays and recommend solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance guidelines, coding, and compliance standards.
- Assist with patient and facility billing inquiries related to insurance.
- Support accurate month-end reporting by ensuring insurance claims are resolved in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in dental insurance billing and collections.
- Strong understanding of dental insurance policies, claims processing, and EOBs.
- Familiarity with dental billing software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
