Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Worker to join our team. This role is essential in providing support to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in care, demonstrating empathy and patience while working closely with clients in various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals with autism, assisting them in daily living activities.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
  • Assist clients with personal care tasks, including hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Support clients in developing social skills and engaging in community activities.
  • Monitor and document client progress and behavior, reporting any significant changes to the care team.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and ensure compliance with health guidelines.
  • Assist with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring clients when necessary.
  • Collaborate with families and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients at all times.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in home care or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dementia care principles is a plus.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is desirable.
  • Experience with medication administration protocols is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others are essential traits for success in this role.
  • Ability to lift clients safely and assist them with mobility challenges as needed.
  • A background in nursing or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
