Position : Bankruptcy Paralegal
Location : New York, NY
Full-Time : Yes (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote : Monday / Friday remote days)
Salary Range : $90,000-$135,000 Full Benefits
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Paralegal to support its New York office and nationwide creditor-focused practice.
The Bankruptcy Paralegal will assist attorneys by providing general bankruptcy support services, including filing and serving documents in New Jersey and New York bankruptcy courts, as well as other federal bankruptcy courts. Responsibilities include document and claim preparation, claims review and analysis, coordination with claims agents, court staff, and clients, support for contested hearings, analysis of local rules and procedures, market research, investigation, and closing bankruptcy and restructuring-related transactions.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
- Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, while tracking related deadlines across multiple jurisdictions, including federal bankruptcy cases.
- Understand local court rules, practices, and procedures to assist attorneys with case management.
- Manage case calendars, task lists, and critical date trackers for complex Chapter 11 cases.
- Prepare and file proofs of claim, track claims, and assist with the claims reconciliation process.
- Draft court documents such as retention and fee applications.
- Maintain time records, review bills, and create tracking files for fee applications.
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and other professionals on case-related projects.
- Review and monitor case dockets, summarizing and circulating relevant pleadings.
- Assist with hearing preparation, including coordinating appearances and preparing materials.
- Respond to creditor inquiries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
