Position: IP Specialist
Location: Hartford, CT

A dynamic and innovative legal team is seeking a highly motivated IP Specialist to join their Hartford office. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, combining in-office and remote work, and provides a competitive salary range, full benefits, and bonus potential.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional eager to gain hands-on experience in intellectual property law. The IP Specialist will have the opportunity to work independently and closely with experienced attorneys, handling trademark and patent prosecution, portfolio management, and various other intellectual property matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review client dockets for upcoming deadlines, prepare and send correspondence to clients, and follow up as necessary.
- Prepare and electronically file trademark forms with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), including applications, responses to office actions, extensions, statements of use, and other related filings.
- Handle electronic trademark filings with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), including international applications and other related documents.
- Communicate with foreign law firms to manage trademark and patent filings abroad, including providing instructions and addressing requests for filing information.
- Assist in conducting trademark clearance searches using databases such as USPTO and Saegis.
- Prepare and electronically file patent-related documents in the USPTO, including provisional and utility applications, information disclosure statements, and responses to office actions.
- Manage and organize electronic patent and trademark files.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects independently, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively within a client-focused team.
- Attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in preparing and electronically filing trademark and patent documents with the USPTO.
- 2-3 years of experience in intellectual property, preferably within a law firm or corporate IP department, including familiarity with IP practice management systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel) and billing software.
