General Description:
The Billing Specialist will provide support to the Counseling Center Clinic Manager assisting in payment processing as well as providing backup billing and reception services. Primary responsibilities include applying payments and adjustments, verifying billing codes, processing and submitting claims.
This role also provides support to the Youth and Family Services Program. Responsibilities include billing and payment processing for Wraparound services and communicating with Medicaid payers as well as commercial insurance companies.

Duties / Responsibilities:
- Creates and bills Wraparound claims.
- Applies Counseling Center payments and adjustments using ECR, Carelogic. Working closely with the Counseling Center Clinic Manager to address errors and unpaid claims.
- Provides backup billing for the Counseling Center using Carelogic. Including verifying billing codes, processing claims through ERC and submitting both paper and electronic claims.
- Provides backup reception for assessment intakes at the Counseling Center. Including greeting clients, verifying insurance claims, answering questions and enrolling clients in the ECR.
- Communicates with Medicaid payers including DMAP, PacificSource and Trillium as well as commercial insurance companies.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality.
- Proficient in 10 Key/data entry.
- Proficient in the use of standard office equipment, computers, and computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned task.
- Employment contingent on a satisfactory Criminal History Check as required by the State of Oregon (OAR 407-007-0200 to 407-007-0370) and as deemed acceptable by Direction Service.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of two years prior experience in medical billing.
- Education, training, or experience in related fields (business and medical office systems).
Working Conditions / Physical Demands:
Most of the work completed is in an office environment with exposure to moderate levels of noise in a well-lit and moderately paced environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit, stand, walk, hear and/or respond to verbal/audio cues, see and/or respond to visual cues perform repetitive motions of hands and wrists, and read computer screen. Additional physical requirements may include reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up stairs. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
