The Collection Specialist will collaborate closely with the various insurance companies to ensure prompt payment. Requirements
- Manage patient accounts that are outstanding due to insurance.
- Review patient account set-up, appropriate insurance carrier utilization, charges, payments, and adjustments for accuracy.
- Contact insurance carriers for follow-up on billing.
- Rebill carriers, track and initiate appeals as needed.
- Process patient refunds.
- Assist patients in understanding account status and required actions for account resolution.
- Answer incoming telephone calls from patients and insurance carriers and follow-up accordingly.
- Document all account activities in billing system.
- Track timely processing and follow through of negotiated claims.
- Coordinate all billing-related activities with the various departments.
- Maintain constant communications to ensure department objectives are met.
- Create, maintain and update policy and processes related to department duties.
