- Job Summary
We are seeking a proven Estimating Manager to lead our estimating department and oversee the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for aggregates.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Reviews and analyzes existing and proposed processes and materials
· Ability to look beyond the information that has been given, to ask the right questions and work to provide a completed cost estimate
· Handles the project from first estimate all the way through to finalized
· Must be aggressive in providing solutions to complex issues as they arise related to cost, lead times and /or products or materials
· Ability to prepare detailed estimates of requested quotes
· Drafts cost estimates for projects based on data analysis and research
· Prepare reports forecasting production scenarios; makes recommendations based on findings
· Meets and collaborates with Business Development/Sales.
· Determines any need for other resources
· Identifies the pricing structure required for products to sell at profit
· Research, evaluates, and calculates all job material, expenses and trucking cost to complete quotes
· Gather pricing documentation and follow ups
· Ability to assemble a complete worthy estimate package that clearly communicates cost
· Send quotes to the Business Development / Sales team for revisions
· Answer MO and PO questions from all departments
· Review deliveries in workbooks, created to track PO fulfillment
· Create MOs and POs that are being tracked
· Review ZOHO files to ensure deliveries match
· Lead team to be successful
· Track Cost of Goods changes by reviewing invoices, material invoices, and offload costs
· Help the Business Development team with prices when needed
· Train the new estimators
· Performs other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILL/ABILITIES
· Minimum 6 years in heavy civil construction with 2 years’ experience in estimating
· Civil engineering degree a plus; intermodal transportation of materials experience a plus
· Understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics
· Excellent listening and strong communication skills
· Comfortable with numbers and technology
· Strong estimate budgeting and negotiating skills
· Knowledge of ZOHO is a big plus
· Effective participation in a team environment, with both internal and external teammates
· Extensive knowledge of construction practices in earthwork
· Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to create forecasts based on financial data
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
