Responsibilities
Surgical First Assistants assist physicians in surgery and may perform a specific surgical task under “professional supervision ”.
Surgical tasks include but are not limited to : opening and closing surgical sites, exposure of the surgical site, harvesting grafts, dissecting tissue, removing tissue, implanting devices, and altering tissues.
Perform CST role when not utilized in the First Assistant Role.
Qualifications
Job Requirements :
Current Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or eligible for Certification.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Certification.
Must be eligible for credentialing through Medical Staff .
Previous CST experience prefer two years.
Pervious CST-FA experience prefer a minimum of 2 years Cardio-Vascular.
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist School.
Current CST certification.
New employees who have completed and can document first assistant training or have maintained a current national First Assistant (FA) certification, may work as a ST / FA following BSA policies and protocols.
