About Our Team
BSA Hospital is a 445-bed hospital serving the Amarillo area for over 120 years and continues to be Amarillo's preferred healthcare provider.
Responsibilities
Surgical First Assistants assist physicians in surgery and may perform specific surgical tasks under professional supervision.
Surgical tasks include opening and closing surgical sites, exposing the surgical site, harvesting grafts, dissecting tissue, removing tissue, implanting devices, and altering tissues.
Perform CST role when not utilized in the First Assistant Role.
Qualifications
Current Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or eligibility for Certification.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Certification.
Eligibility for credentialing through Medical Staff.
Prior experience as a CST or CST-FA, preferably two years Cardio-Vascular.
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist School.
Current CST certification.
New employees who have completed and can document first assistant training or have maintained a current national First Assistant (FA) certification, may work as a ST / FA following BSA policies and protocols.
