The Direct Marketing Specialist is responsible for the management of the daily operations and execution of DAV’s direct marketing fundraising program. This may include: Direct mail, digital, telemarketing, face-to-face and direct response television fundraising.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate the daily planning, scheduling, and executing of direct marketing campaigns (including, but not limited to: appeals, acquisition, lapsed reactivation, monthly giving, and non-fundraising solicitiions)
- Evaluate statistical data relating to direct marketing programs for acquisition, retention, and reactivation of donors in order to further optimize program results
- Assist with the development of campaigns utilizing prior campaign results and final campaign performance review documents
- Work with external partners to develop, execute, approve and analyze Direct Marketing campaigns which may include, but not be limited to, overseeing and managing creative/package development, conducting list/audience analysis and selection, and maintaining list exchange balances
- Provide creative and list testing recommendations to further optimize the returns garnered from campaigns
- Review list rental and list acquisition contracts, invoices and statements of work
- Enter/maintain costs in campaign analysis spreadsheets, transfer of data into campaign workbook, and update the fundraising database
- Provide marketing assistance to the DAV Membership Department and Auxiliary, CST, and NSF for fundraising and membership appeals.
- Assist Direct Marketing Manager with additional marketing and fundraising programs as requested
- Involvement, as needed, in activity related to trade associations, consumer advocacy, postal, and government
agencies which impact DAV
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Three years of direct marketing experience with a non-profit organization or strategic partner
- A Bachelors Degree in Business Administration is preferred (along with 3 or more years of direct mail, telemarketing, or direct response television experience in a non-profit organization)
- Possess strong administration skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and accurate manner
- Strong analytical skills are required with a working knowledge of statistical information/data
- The position requires marketing, creative experience, and a knowledge of direct mail
- Individuals should be detail oriented and possess the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
