Position Summary:
The Direct Marketing Specialist plays a critical role in driving DAV’s fundraising efforts through the strategic execution and management of direct marketing campaigns. This role supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of multi-channel fundraising initiatives—including direct mail, digital outreach, telemarketing, face-to-face engagement, and direct response television—focused on donor acquisition, retention, and reactivation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day coordination, scheduling, and execution of direct marketing campaigns including donor appeals, acquisition, reactivation, monthly giving, and non-fundraising communications.
- Analyze campaign performance data to optimize donor acquisition, retention, and reactivation strategies.
- Collaborate on campaign development by incorporating insights from past performance reports and final campaign analyses.
- Partner with external agencies and vendors to plan, develop, and manage campaign components such as creative materials, audience segmentation, list strategy, and testing protocols.
- Recommend and evaluate creative and list testing strategies to continuously improve campaign ROI.
- Review and track contracts, invoices, and statements of work for list rentals and acquisitions.
- Maintain accurate campaign records by entering costs, updating spreadsheets, and supporting data transfers into the fundraising database.
- Provide marketing support to other DAV departments, including Membership, Auxiliary, CST, and NSF, for appeals and other initiatives.
- Assist the Direct Marketing Manager with broader marketing and fundraising projects as assigned.
- Stay informed and involved in relevant trade associations, postal regulations, and government matters affecting direct marketing activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in direct marketing within a nonprofit organization or agency setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated success in direct mail, telemarketing, or direct response TV fundraising.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience interpreting statistical data and campaign results.
- Solid understanding of marketing principles, creative development, and direct response strategies.
