What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager, Ads position at Discord?

Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.
We're looking for a technical, hands-on, and mission-focused Engineering Manager to join our Ads team. This org just started last year and is growing fast. You'll be responsible for building and scaling our ads platform from its foundations. You will lead a full-stack team of engineers working across platforms to build revenue driving products and services at Discord.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work with Product, Design, Business Development and Marketing to drive your team's vision and roadmap
- Build a team of engaged engineers by hiring, coaching, and instilling best practices
- Collaborate on designing scalable technical solutions, and help to set the technical strategy of our ads architecture
- Instill a culture that both drives both impactful results and delights the end user
- Use your technical expertise and ensure your team delivers extraordinary results at the high technical level we set
- Make sound first-principle decisions around resourcing, and making the rationale clear to partners and team members
- Partner with your senior manager on strategic planning and to improve the Engineering organization and uphold our workplace philosophy

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $223,000 to $245,500 equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
