Discovery Health Sciences Schools is currently seeking a full-time Benefits Assistant to join our growing team!
Discovery Schools opened their doors in Jefferson Parish in 2013 as a K-12 charter school created to give families choice in public education. Discovery has grown to a network of 3 schools with a Health Sciences mission. Across our four campuses in Kenner and Metairie and Baton Rouge our 400 teachers/staff serve over 3,000 students in Pre-K-12th grade. Discovery prides itself on its excellent academic record and strong school culture. The mission of Discovery Health Sciences Schools is to provide a rigorous learning environment where students achieve academically, develop intellectual curiosity, and practice environmental responsibility while exploring health and science topics and careers.

This is an ideal opportunity for an HR professional to play a critical role ensuring efficient day-to-day operations that support teacher and student success.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs
- Answer employee questions about benefits
- Assist with annual open enrollment process including communication to employees
- Maintain accurate employee benefit records
- Reconcile benefits invoices
- Coordinate with benefit providers to address claims issues and process updates
- Assist with employee leave management
- Assist with workers compensation
- Assist with the administration of the retirement plan
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in benefits administration or human resources preferred
- Working knowledge of U.S. labor laws
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
- Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
