Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a clinical laboratory, ensuring high standards of quality control, compliance with regulatory guidelines, and efficient processing of lab tests. This role involves supervising laboratory staff, managing laboratory resources, ensuring test systems are functioning properly, troubleshooting, and collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure the accurate and timely execution of deliverables. The Clinical Laboratory Manager ensures that laboratory processes align with organizational goals, maintains safety protocols, and leads efforts in improving laboratory performance.
Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or laboratory science from an accredited institution
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences from an accredited institution and at least 6 months of acceptable supervised experience and/or relevant training
- At least 5 years of clinical laboratory leadership experience
- 8-10 years of laboratory experience
- Extensive knowledge and compliance of local, state and federal regulations to include but not limited to GCP/GCLP, 21 CFR Part 11, CLIA/CAP EH&S and HIPPA
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback when needed, motivate and lead a diverse team
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to execute and prioritize tasks and drive results with a high focus on quality within the expected timeframe
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall operations of the Genomics Laboratory including but not limited to monitoring sample and QC data, ensuring test systems are functioning properly, provide direct oversight of laboratory personnel
- Supervise and mentor laboratory personnel, ensuring optimal team performance, training, and professional development
- Provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and manage employee relations issues
- Implement and maintain a robust quality control program to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, ensuring the laboratory adheres to all local, state and federal regulations related to the laboratory's operations including maintaining certifications, audits and inspections
- Work with laboratory personnel on the laboratory's quality control and quality assurance procedure, process/assay troubleshooting and training
- Review, interpret and monitor test data
- Communicate laboratory results, policies, and changes to the appropriate stakeholders in a clear and timely manner
- Review and document laboratory reagent and equipment qualifications
- Ensure all laboratory equipment and instruments are operated and maintained according to the laboratory's procedures
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring laboratory supplies are available without overstocking
- Ensure equipment maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment are met and troubleshoot issues as needed
- Evaluate and recommend new laboratory equipment and technologies to improve efficiency, safety, and accuracy
- Review and resolve all issues that adversely impact laboratory's test performance and when there are deviations in the laboratory's established procedures
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions in the event of safety or quality issues
- Maintain records that displays proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as all other samples
- Manage the laboratory’s budget, including resource allocation for supplies, equipment, and personnel

Location and work hours:
- Onsite - Huntsville, AL
- Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm local time
- Less than 5% domestic or international travel required for mandatory site meetings and trainings
