Position Summary:
Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Research Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Research Specialist, you will play a vital part in advancing client-sponsored and R&D projects by working in our Cell Services laboratory. You will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.
A Day in the Life of a Research Specialist at Discovery Life Sciences:
- Prep reagents and equipment for daily use.
- Accession and process biospecimen samples.
- Perform necessary extractions of DNA/RNA.
- Review data for accuracy and compliance
Education, Skills, Experience:
Must Have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences
- Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with Word and Excel preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and/or weekends
- Working knowledge of universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and handling human biospecimens.
Nice-To-Have:
- Proven laboratory experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and prepare reagents
- Utilize a variety of laboratory equipment including micropipettes, centrifuges, and microscopes
- Maintain and perform calibration on equipment
- Process and cryopreserve blood products and human tissue using universal precautions
- Characterize human biospecimens using flow cytometry
- Accession samples into database
- Track work and progress in specified data management tools
