Job Summary:
Discovery Years is seeking a caring and energetic Teacher Assistant to support our Preschool and Toddler classrooms. The ideal candidate will work alongside lead teachers to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young children can grow, learn, and thrive. This role involves assisting with classroom activities, maintaining a structured daily routine, and fostering positive interactions with children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
- Supervise and engage with children during play, meals, rest time, and learning activities.
- Support children’s social-emotional development by modeling positive behaviors and conflict-resolution skills.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Help with diapering, potty training, and personal hygiene as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff about children's progress and daily activities.
- Follow all state licensing regulations and Discovery Years’ policies and procedures.
- Assist in preparing materials and setting up learning centers.
- Encourage creativity, independence, and a love for learning in a supportive atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds, bend, and sit on the floor with children.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Passion for working with young children and a commitment to their development.
