DMOC has an immediate opening for an experienced, full-time Legal Secretary to provide support services for our Litigation Department in our Stamford, CT office. This person must possess strong communication, organizational, and computer skills, and the ability to work well in a cooperative, fast-paced office environment among attorneys and other support staff.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two (2) years of litigation experience with a solid understanding of legal terminology, as well as experience with court filings and State/Federal court motion practice. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe is expected. Excellent typing skills required. Use of document management and billing systems a plus.
Responsibilities include:
- Draft correspondence
- Preparation of pleadings, briefs, motions and legal memoranda
- Organize and maintain case files (paper and electronically within document management system)
- Electronically file pleadings, briefs, motions and exhibits (State and Federal)
- Calendar and assist with maintaining deadlines, appointments, case docketing, and hearing dates
- Schedule and coordinate meetings
- Schedule depositions and arrange subpoenas and service
- Aid attorneys with interrogatories, discovery requests, and document production and management
- Assist in preparing cases for all aspects of discovery, mediation, and trial
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices for discovery, pre-trial, and trial purposes
- Communicate with current and potential clients, witnesses, and other law firms as needed
- Perform other administrative and clerical duties as assigned
- Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
This is a full-time (Monday to Friday), in-office position. Competitive salary commensurate with educational background, experience, and ability.
