Job Summary:
The Inventory Control and Product Flow Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing the movement, storage, and tracking of products within the organization. This role involves maintaining accurate inventory levels, ensuring efficient product flow from suppliers to customers, and implementing best practices for inventory management. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels across multiple locations.
Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventories to reconcile discrepancies.
Implement strategies to minimize stock shortages, overstock, and obsolescence.
Ensure inventory records in inventory management systems are up-to-date and accurate.
Product Flow Optimization:
Analyze product movement data to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
Develop and implement workflows that optimize receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Generate and analyze inventory and product flow reports to provide insights for decision-making.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, turnover rates, and order fulfillment.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on inventory performance and present findings to management.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the procurement, warehouse, and sales teams to align inventory levels with demand forecasts.
Assist in the development of stocking strategies and reorder points based on sales trends and customer requirements.
Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot and improve inventory management systems.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all inventory control processes comply with internal policies and regulatory standards.
Implement safety protocols related to inventory handling, storage, and product movement.
Qualifications:
5 years or more of experience in inventory control, supply chain, and/or logistics.
Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., Eclipse, Epicor, or similar ERP systems).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in product flow optimization and process improvement methodologies
Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and barcode scanning technologies.
Certification in inventory management or supply chain is a plus.
Work Environment:
This role may require occasional lifting of heavy inventory items, frequent standing, and walking in a warehouse environment. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
