This position is responsible for managing the end to end payroll process, ensuring compliance with state tax regulations, and overseeing sales tax compliance. They will play an integral role in maintaining accurate, complete and compliant payroll processes and sales tax compliance, and requires a detail oriented person with significant knowledge of payroll and sales tax, including state and federal regulations.

What you will be doing:
Payroll Management:
- Process multi state payroll operations twice monthly, ensuring accurate and timely disbursements
- Maintain employee payroll records, including earning, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings
- Responsible for quarterly and annual payroll reporting
- Responsible for employee W2s, to include regular review and year end audit and distribution
- Process and manage commissions
- Audit payroll data and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Responsible for communication and management of timesheets and timekeeping
- Serve as point of contact for all employee questions and requests regarding payroll or time
- Monitor and ensure compliance with payroll tax and unemployment insurance regulations
- Ensure proper registration and compliance with state and local sales tax requirements
- File timely and accurate sales tax returns and maintain documentation
- Responsible for resolution of any sales tax and compliance issues
- Communicate with vendors regarding sales tax exemption status
- File and pay property tax filings in multiple states, monitoring and resolving property tax disputes when needed
- Responsible for auditing, management and vendor communication related to Employment taxes
- Stay updated on changes to payroll, income tax, and sales tax regulations
- Create and sustain processes and functions of the required systems
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance payroll and tax compliance efficiency
- 4 years of experience in a dedicated Payroll position, multi state payroll highly preferred
- 3 years of experience with tax compliance and research
- 3 years of experience with sales tax filing
- Experience with payroll software, UKG preferred
- Understanding of Sales tax, to include Nexus status and sales tax filings
- Ability to read and comprehend 941 forms
- Ability to utilize judgment, analyze information, and evaluate results to problem solve
- Sense of urgency and commitment to superior service levels
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Understanding of Property tax preferred
- Proficiency in either Microsoft or Google Suite, both is preferred
