The Facilities Specialist provides administrative, logistical, and operational support for the Office of the Executive Attorney (OEA) and the Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC). 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 


  • Coordinate with DC Courts’ divisions to ensure functioning of mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, lighting fixture and window covering replacement, structural, plumbing, security, and electrical repairs), mailroom services, and janitorial services of court building spaces occupied by the OEA and ODC.
  • Provide audiovisual support for in-person, hybrid, and remote meetings, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with third-party contractors on repairs, preventive maintenance, space improvement initiatives, emergency preparedness and response efforts, and delivery and installation of office equipment and furniture.
  • Assist with large-scale scanning and photocopying projects.
  • Process outgoing mail and packages; replenish postage and mailroom supplies as needed.
  • Ensure regular cleaning and sanitization of OEA and ODC spaces by in-house and contracted janitorial services.
  • Assist employees with office/workstation moves.
  • Maintain asset inventory system, including tagging and logging new assets and ensuring proper disposal of retired assets.
  • Provide tier-1 equipment maintenance, including desktop and network printers, copiers, postage machines, and breakroom and conference room appliances.
  • Regularly monitor breakroom supplies and replenish as needed; ensure beverage and snack stations are stocked.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Relevant experience. 
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment maintenance; basic understanding of postal rates and regulations. Ability to effectively troubleshoot issues.
  • Working knowledge of postage machine operation and maintenance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven. Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well independently and in a team environment and interact professionally with hearing committee and Board members, case-involved parties, witnesses, the public, vendors, contractors, and DC Courts, OEA, ODC, and DC Bar personnel.
  • Work well under pressure and possess excellent organizational and time management abilities; successfully manage competing priorities.
  • Adaptable, creative, self-motivated, and solution-oriented.
  • Work proactively, exercise sound independent judgment in solving complex issues, and take initiative in researching and proposing solutions.
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associate degree.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization or law office.

 

The ODC is a hybrid workplace; however, this position is not eligible for a hybrid schedule.
