POSITION OVERVIEW
TITLE: Technology Support Technician
STATUS/FLSA: Full-time / Non-Exempt
PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: COMPUTER TECHNICIAN /
DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time: ( 0 ); Part-time (0)
SUPERVISOR: Information Technology Services Support Manager
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Days. Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Director of Information Technology and Security Services.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this classification is to support the effective operation and development of computer systems in the District to enhance the learning environment of the students, and to provide technical support for computer hardware and peripherals, operating systems, and applications used in schools throughout the District. Responsible for overseeing the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of computer equipment. This positions also evaluates and assists in the selection of equipment and assists with training personnel in the proper use of computers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Repair, install, maintain, transport, and dispose of large quantities of desktop and laptop computer equipment, network and local printers, and other related equipment throughout the district.
- Install, configure, and maintain various operating systems and servers.
- Assist Engineering Team with the installation of network equipment as required.
- Maintains records and inventories of computers, software, and all related technology equipment as specified in the district inventory procedures.
- Obtain quotes from vendors for computer hardware and services where required.
- Troubleshoot and coordinate shipments with vendors for computer equipment and printers in, or out of warranty, that cannot be repaired by District personnel.
- Monitor and verify completeness of equipment repairs made by vendors, validate vendor invoices, and ensure return of equipment to end users.
- Assist with training District support personnel in the proper use of computer hardware and software related equipment.
- Work with technology team members to ensure completion of special projects and rollouts of new computer related hardware and software equipment district-wide.
- Escalates ITS helpdesk tickets to Engineering Team once attempting a resolution and collecting all required information related to the issue.
- Be available to assist in some off-hour events on a periodic basis.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Assist with support and maintenance of security cameras and CCTV servers.
- Maintain Smartboards, projectors, and and any other audio-video equipment.
- Participate in staff development programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced training in computer technology
- Knowledge and ability for acquiring, installing, testing, operating or repairing computer equipment, networks, and various operating systems
- Knowledge of and experience with Windows Operating System
- Experience with ethernet network topologies
- Knowledge of classroom and office technology
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Good teamwork skills
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of District polcies and procedures
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor in stressful conditions.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE:
- Use computers for data entry; or handle, use, or repair hand-held power equipment or light machinery.
- Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations or custom applications or operate or repair large shop equipment and machines
- Use, develop, or repair electronics or complex software, hardware, or network systems; operate, install, test or inspect heavy or complex machinery.
- Supervise the activities of those operating or repairing complex machinery or technology systems.
- Interpret policy and establish methods and procedures for acquiring, installing, testing, operating or repairing machinery or technology systems.
EDUCATION: Completion of Associate’s Degree in computer technology or equivalent technical training.
EXPERIENCE: 2 years. On the job experience required. Experience may be substituted for education.
LICENSES: REQUIRED: None.
CERTIFICATIONS: PREFERRED: A Certification and Microsoft Fundamentals Certification.
