This is a posting for anticipated vacancies.
Candidates processing a current NYS Certification in the appropriate subject area will be given preference. Pending certifications meeting the following conditions may be accepted:
- The appropriate NYS certification will be issued by September 1st
- A letter from the college stating the applicant is expected to have their certification by Sept 1st ♦OR♦ an unofficial transcript and exam results with a passing grade should be attached to the application.
Please note:
- This is an anticipated vacancy only. There may or may not be an available vacancy.
- Vacancies will be filled internally and then, if a vacancy is still available, external candidates will be considered.
- Internal placements and transfers will take place on or around April 30.
- All qualified external candidates will participate in the screening process which will be conducted during this posting.
- The screening process will include a short virtual interview with a director.
- Screening results will be communicated within 7-10 business days.
- Informational emails will be sent periodically to keep you informed of our progress.

ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:
- NYS Certification in School Media Specialist (Library)
- Must possess effective written and oral communication
- Ability to collaborate with students, faculty and district school librarians
- Knowledgeable about current research as it relates to libraries
- Promotes the ethical use of information
- Ability to demonstrate his/her positive attitude with students and adults
- Ability to demonstrate his/her willingness to provide extra help
- Ability to demonstrate his/her willingness to participate in the school community outside of the classroom
- Ability to demonstrate his/her ability to infuse technology into the total instructional program
- Ability to demonstrate his/her ability to infuse character education in the total instructional program
DUTIES:
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities for all students
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
- Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year, as well as promote literacy.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and administration.
- Utilize various curriculum resources.
- Utilize data driven instruction to maximize student growth.
- Foster a warm and inviting classroom environment.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with all teachers.
- Experience working with students who speak English as a second language preferred.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Excellent communicator with students
- Ability to motivate students and create a passion for literacy.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Building Administration.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY: $41,040-$52,800
Per WTA Contract
