Candidates processing a current NYS Certification in the appropriate subject area will be given preference. Pending certifications meeting the following conditions may be accepted:
- The appropriate NYS certification will be issued by September 1st
- A letter from the college stating the applicant is expected to have their certification by Sept 1st ♦OR♦ an unofficial transcript and exam results with a passing grade should be attached to the application.
Please note:
- This is an anticipated vacancy only. There may or may not be an available vacancy.
- Vacancies will be filled internally and then, if a vacancy is still available, external candidates will be considered.
- Internal placements and transfers will take place on or around April 30.
- All qualified external candidates will participate in the screening process which will be conducted during this posting.
- The screening process will include a short virtual interview with a director.
- Screening results will be communicated within 7-10 business days.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that adheres to research-based literacy practices and standards using a variety of teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy intervention services for students
- Utilize data and assessments to determine and provide literacy supports for students
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
- Engage in professional learning opportunities
- Create a positive, inclusive, learning environment where all students feel supported
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and evidence-based literacy interventions
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress
ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:
- NYS Certification in Literacy
- Knowledge, skill, and confidence with NYS Next Generation ELA Learning Standards
- Ability to implement highly effective curriculum, teaching, and assessment programs
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct students
- Understanding of how to appropriately place students for intervention
- Demonstrated experience effectively using technology
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A commitment to professional development and continuous learning
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Successful teaching experience in the area of literacy
- Evidence of student growth
- A demonstrated record of professional learning
- Prior professional learning in evidence-based literacy strategies and knowledge of Science of Reading research
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY: $41,040-$52,800
Per WTA Contract
