Initial hours of assignment: approx. 8:00am - 3:00pm
10 months per school year
REQUIREMENTS:
*Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the State of New York.
- Training or experience in working with children with various disabilities.
- School health experience working with school aged students, especially pre-school aged children.
- Clinical nursing experience or background.
- Experience working with students with chronic health conditions.
- Relevant experience to this setting and position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assesses student health complaints, manages medication administration and provides care for students with specialized health care needs/chronic medical conditions.
- Manages emergencies and urgent situations.
- Conducts mandated health screenings, verifies immunizations, reviews student health appraisals and health histories, and monitors and reports contagious/infectious diseases.
- Develops health care plans, emergency care plans, conducts the training for unlicensed personnel in overseeing daily management needs and the administration of emergency medications (glucagon, epi pens).
- Identifies and manages student chronic health care needs that affect educational achievement.
- Submits required New York State Department of Health surveys (immunization, BMI/WSC), and completes required documentation.
- Participates in nurse meetings and, as needed, 504/CPSE Committee Meetings. Participation in staff development.
- Participates on building/site teams or committees, as requested by the Director, District Nurse Practitioner, and/or Assistant Superintendent.
- Adheres to current standards of care, standards of the profession and standards of documentation, District and NYS approved policies and procedures, as well as medical protocols under the direction of the District Physician and Nurse Practitioner.
- Monitors health equipment, initiates process for repairs and interval calibrations, ordering of approved supplies.
- Oversees physical verification for District student-athletes (fall, winter, and spring season), as needed.
- Provides student-specific in-services as warranted.
- Provides District nursing coverage and assists with mandated screenings for UPK, non-public schools, and District buildings, when needed.
- Other responsibilities as requested by the Director, District Nurse Practitioner and/or Assistant Superintendent.

Salary : $34,350 - $42,350
