TITLE: Substitute Care Provider/Assistant Site Leader
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma with proven interest in the welfare of children
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: March 15, 2025 to June 16, 2025 (Potential Permanent Postion for 2025-2026 School Year)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month position (without benefits)
EVALUATION: Annually in accordance with Board Policy, administrative directives and be consistent with the terms and conditions of employment
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Display a genuine interest and concern for every child in the program.
- Arrive at building with enough time to sign into the district attendance program and be at assigned area by start of YEP session.
- Report to and follow directions of Site Leader/Assistant Site Leader on a regular basis. The Site Leader will report to the Program Director.
- Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment, including daily set-up and storage, minor repairs, replacement and current inventory records.
- Follow procedures for parent/student daily sign–in and sign–out including accurate attendance records. See additional instructions for lost/missing child procedures (pg. 19).
- Demonstrate effective child behavior management system for individual and group activities including eating and general play; maintain visual supervision of children at all times.
- Assist with breakfast and snacks, store, serve to students and ensure clean-up.
- As first priority, assist in determining each day that all children participating in the program are accounted for and immediately follow emergency procedures if an incident arises where a child cannot be located.
- Display positive communication skills with parents, staff and children at all times; encourage cooperation and maintaining a good working relationship with others.
- Anticipate, as early as possible, potential problems in the program, whether with children, parents, staff, equipment, supplies, location site, safety, schedule, food, activities, etc.; report your concerns immediately to the Site Leader/Assistant Site Leader.
- Maintain professionalism among staff, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding students, staff and families of students.
- Attend special program planning meetings as specified by the Site Leader.
- Ensure that written documentation is made as soon as possible, detailing any incident in which an accident, injury, damage to property or other event of a serious nature has occurred, including names of persons involved, time and location of occurrence, objective listing of the sequence of events, using direct quotes wherever possible.
- Make suggestions to the Program Director concerning possible program improvements.
- Follow procedures for reporting own absence as outlined in this handbook.
- Assist in supervising all program activities with children and ensure children are never left unattended. The Site Leader will schedule and coordinate program activities.
- Be prepared to work additional hours on all scheduled early-dismissal days.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Program Director.
