Payroll Specialist-

Join the DiVal Safety Equipment team at our Buffalo, NY headquarters as a member of our fast paced and dynamic team. The focus of this position is to accurately record and process payroll in accordance with established practices and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote the Values of DiVal: Be safe, be accountable, be credible, be positive, be smart and be committed.
- Work as part of a team, reporting to the Human Resources Manager and Executive Vice President.
- Address employees pay related concerns and provide accurate payroll information.
- Collect, compile and enter payroll data and deductions.
- Process weekly payrolls by established deadlines.
- Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors.
- Update payroll records by processing changes including but not limited to state/federal taxes, garnishments, insurance coverage, salary increases, 401k deferrals, and loan payments.
- Process new hires, terminations and personnel changes.
- Complete required payroll data audits.
- Prepare payroll reports of earnings, hours worked, taxes, insurance and leave.
- Upload and post the weekly General Ledger and 401k file transfer.
- Complete requests for pay related information (unemployment, disability, etc.).
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.
- Process year-end reports and issue statements of earnings and deductions.
- Assist the Human Resources department with other tasks assigned by management.
Skills and Requirements –
- Attention to detail a must!
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Solid math skills and understanding of general accounting principles.
- Strong MS Office skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Prior payroll processing experience / ADP a plus!
- High School diploma or GED.
