One of our partners is looking for a Business Analyst Modeler. This position combines the responsibilities of a Business Analyst and a Data Modeler. They analyze business needs, gather requirements, and then translate those requirements into detailed data models, ensuring data integrity and consistency for various applications and systems.
Education - Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
Citizenship / Security Clearance - Must be a U.S. Citizen with an existing Secret Security clearance.
Experience - 4-6 years’ experience working in business analysis and process modeling.
Business Analyst - A Business Analyst is responsible for identifying business needs, analyzing problems or opportunities, and helping deliver data-driven, technology-enabled solutions. A Business Analyst acts as a bridge between stakeholders and technical teams to ensure outcomes align with organizational goals.
• Requirements Gathering and Analysis
- Engage stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate business and technical requirements
- Use Interviews, workshops, surveys, and observation to understand business needs
- Translate high level needs into detailed functional and non-functional requirements
• Process Mapping and Improvement
- Analyze current business processes and identify inefficiencies or gaps
- Create as-is and to0be process maps using tools like BPMN or Visio
- Recommend process improvements or automation opportunities
• Solution Assessment and Validation
- Write user stories, manage product backlogs and participate in sprints
- Work with technical teams to ensure proposed solutions meet requirements
- Participate in design reviews, prototypes, and testing phases
- Support User Acceptance Testing and help validate solution performance
• Stakeholder Communication and Facilitation
- Serve as a liaison between business users, project managers, developers and testers
- Facilitate workshops, meetings and communications to align expectations
- Manage stakeholder feedback and update requirements as needed
• Documentation and Reporting
- Produce clear documentation: business requirements documents, user stories, use cases, process flows, and data dictionaries
- Track project progress, issues, and changes
- Create reports or dashboards for stakeholders, especially when supporting data-driven initiatives
• Support Strategic Planning and Decision-Making
- Analyze business trends, data, and KPIs to support strategic initiatives
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis or impact assessments
• Assist with Change Management
- Support organizational readiness by helping users understand new systems or processes
- Support change management lead with training materials or facilitate knowledge transfer
Business Modeler - A business modeler is responsible for visually representing and analyzing business processes, systems, data flows, and decision logic. Their primary goal is to create models that help stakeholders understand, improve, and automate digital transformation, systems engineering or process optimization
• Develop Business Process Models
- Create visual representations of current and future business processes using standards like BPMN
- Capture workflows, decisions, roles, and system interactions clearly and accurately
- Support business process reengineering or improvement initiatives
• Analyze and Optimize Processes
- Identify inefficiencies, redundancies, or gaps in business processes
- Propose changes to improve flow, reduce waste, or enable automation
- Collaborate with business analysts, SMEs, and operations teams to validate findings
• Create Conceptual and Logical models
- Develop business capability models, information models, or value streams to align with enterprise architecture or transformation goals
- Use modeling tools to create and manage artifacts
• Support Digital Transformation
- Translate business needs into formal models that feed into systems engineering or digital twin environments
- Align modeling work with enterprise architecture, system requirements, and IT capabilities
• Facilitate Stakeholder Understanding
- Serve as a translator between business and technical teams by using visual models to explain complex processes or systems
- Present models in stakeholder meetings, workshops, or architecture reviews
• Maintain Modeling Standards and Governance
- Ensure consistency by adhering to modeling standards, conventions, and version control
- Participate in or support governance boards that review and approve business models
• Collaborate Across Disciplines
- Work with business analysts, enterprise architects, systems engineers, and developers to ensure models align with organizational goals
- Ensure models are usable in solution design, automation, and system development
• Enable Automation and System Design
- Identify areas for business rule extraction and decision modeling
- Support workflow automation, PRA and low-code solutions through process models
