Sr. Director of Payroll & Tax

Diversicare Support Center(BSC)
Brentwood, TN Full Time
POSTED ON 12/28/2024
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/26/2025

Overview

At Diversicare, we're driven by our mission to "Improve every life we touch by providing exceptional healthcare and exceeding expectations." This commitment extends to our team members, and we're seeking a dynamic leader to elevate our payroll operations to new heights.

Imagine this: You're not just processing paychecks; you're the architect of a highly efficient and compliant payroll system that directly impacts the lives of thousands of healthcare professionals across nearly 50 skilled nursing and long-term care centers in five states. You're a strategic partner, advising internal stakeholders and ensuring seamless integration with our HR systems.

Responsibilities

Here's how you'll make a real impact:

  • Achieve 100% on-time and accurate payroll processing across all operating companies (weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle) consistently. This means no missed paydays, no errors, and complete peace of mind for our employees.
  • Reduce payroll-related errors and discrepancies within the first year. You'll implement robust audit practices and data analysis to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Successfully optimize UKG system functionalities related to payroll by collaborating closely with the HRIS Team. You'll leverage your deep UKG expertise to maximize efficiency and compliance.
  • Overhaul the payroll tax administration, reducing dependence on external vendors. You'll ensure a seamless and fully compliant payroll tax effort, returning the payroll tax function to the Diversicare payroll team and reducing our reliance on an external vendor.
  • Maintain a 100% compliance rate with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and garnishment laws related to payroll. You'll stay abreast of evolving regulations and ensure our processes are always up-to-date.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing payroll team, resulting in a quantifiable improvement in team performance metrics (e.g., efficiency, accuracy, responsiveness). You'll invest in your team's growth and development, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders (HR, Finance, Operations) and external vendors, resulting in improved communication, collaboration and service delivery. You will be a trusted advisor and effective communicator.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Proven success in leading and managing multi-state payroll operations for organizations with a complex payroll structure.
  • Deep expertise in UKG Pro and UKG Dimensions, including implementation, configuration, and optimization.
  • A strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, garnishment laws, and other relevant compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other relevant software tools.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CCP certification (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll management experience.
