What are the responsibilities and job description for the Immigration Attorney position at Diversified Counsel?
Nationwide immigration law firm dedicated to zealously advocating for the rights of all immigrants is seeking a highly experienced and motived immigration attorney. Our law firm routinely handles complex immigration issues through the use of humanitarian visas and family-based petitions to help our clients get out of the shadows and be put on a pathway to lawful permanent residency. Our law firm also focuses on business immigration matters assisting employers in hiring foreign national talent.
This position is for a licensed attorney with at least three years of immigration experience (and preferably, with immigration court experience). In addition to assisting with regular case flow, the position will also require the attorney to review new cases after hire, review assembled immigration based petitions, and answer questions from non-attorney staff. The ideal candidate for this position will find a way to help the client. Bilingual Spanish/English candidates will be priorities higher that those that are non-Spanish speakers. Our law firm will provide extensive training upon hire.
Job Duties
- Represent clients in immigration cases before government agencies and in court proceedings
- Subject matter knowledge in various Adjustment of Status applications, complex naturalization applications, the U Visa, family-based petitions and removal defense. Strong preference for persons also with a background in PERM/H1B/NIW.
- Conduct in person and virtual sales/intake meetings
- Prepare legal documents such as applications, petitions, appeals, and waivers
- Research and analyze complex immigration law issues
- Communicate with clients regarding their immigration matters
- Monitor changes in immigration law and advise clients accordingly
- Develop strategies to resolve immigration-related problems
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of immigration law and trends
Immigration Lawyer Requirements and Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to a state bar
- Strong knowledge of case management software and interface with IT is required
- At least 3 years of experience practicing immigration law
- Knowledge of Spanish language is preferred but not required
- Extensive knowledge of immigration law, statutes, practices, and procedures
- Able to work with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Able to handle multiple cases simultaneously
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines
