Diversified Services Network, Inc. (DSN) is seeking a full-time Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join the company in Mossville, IL.
This role involves virtual simulation of thermal design for motors, including verification of test results from hardware to analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.
- Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Execute analysis of motor thermal test data and compare to analytical predictions.
- Write automated scripts to improve velocity of motor thermal analysis.
Typical Tasks:
- Physics-based thermal design utilizing software or Excel.
- Converting internally developed Excel tools to WEB-format using EASA.
- Inheriting the current data analysis process of converting machine population data to thermal predictions for life calculations.
- Working with the internal data analysis tool team to create tools/user groups that have motor-specific user functions such as predicting SS temperature.
- Developing Matlab or Visual Basic tools for PM and Induction motor thermal analysis.
Interactions with Team:
- Collaborate with Simulation Team/Experts on a regular basis to develop and validate analysis programs.
- Work with test engineers to process lab data and compare with analytical predictions.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering and/or Physics concentration.
- 3 years of experience required; 5-10 years preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Thermal simulation understanding.
- Python or Matlab programming experience at proficient level.
- Design of rotating components.
- CFD/FEA background.
- Rotating component analysis background.
- Data analysis experience.
- EASA (converting Excel sheets to web tools).
Soft Skills:
