Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time Dev Research Engineer to join our team in Mossville, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering with expertise in thermal modeling and simulation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fluid, efficient, and thermal modeling and simulations to assess engine combustion, performance, and behavior.
- Analyze design concepts and provide input for design changes to meet objectives.
- Develop simulation plans, build, execute physics-based models, analyze, and report results, providing recommendations back to product design teams.
- Participate in simulation project planning with design and other simulation engineers, ensuring simulations are executed accurately, analyzing results, and creating summary reports with recommendations.
- Use 3D engine combustion and thermal software (CONVERGE or STAR-CCM ) to build physics-based models, perform simulations, and analyze results.
- Attend team meetings and document/report results to clients.
- Run simulations of the systems to predict performance.
- Ensure simulations are executed properly.
- Analyze data and create summary reports with results and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering degree with 3 years' experience or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years' experience.
- Strong background in fluid dynamics and thermal simulations, either through graduate studies or industry experience.
- Experience with commercial 3D fluid dynamic and thermal software such as Siemens STAR-CCM or Convergent Science CONVERGE.
