In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the billing process for patient accounts, ensuring accurate submission of claims, tracking payments, and resolving any billing discrepancies. Key Responsibilities
- Claim Submission: Prepare and submit insurance claims (including Medi-Cal) for medical and clinical therapy services in accordance with all guidelines and regulations.
- Account Review: Review and manage patient accounts for billing accuracy, including verification of patient information and coding.
- Follow-Up & Resolution: Conduct follow-ups on outstanding claims and resolve discrepancies or issues with insurance providers or patients.
- Payment Processing: Process payments and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, therapists, healthcare staff, and clients to clarify any billing-related questions or issues.
- Regulation Compliance: Stay current with changes in medical billing regulations, coding systems, Medi-Cal requirements, and insurance policies.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate reports to track billing performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Program & Project Oversight:
- Develop, implement, and oversee billing-related programs and projects, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to establish program goals and performance metrics.
- Monitor program performance, generate reports, and present findings to management.
- Identify areas for improvement within current billing processes and recommend solutions.
- Train and onboard new staff on billing procedures and software.
- Ensure that all programs are executed in compliance with necessary guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in medical billing or coding.
- Previous experience with Medi-Cal and/or program/project management is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledgeable in medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
- Proficient in medical billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Compensation: Contracted $52,102 (part time) annually pro-rated for the terms of the grant period (December 31 2025)
