Job Title: Estimator/Project Manager

Reports To: General Manager/Owner
Location: Everett, WA
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for excavation projects and managing their execution from start to finish. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, project management skills, and effective communication to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for excavation, site preparation, grading, utility installation, and other services.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, potential challenges, and opportunities.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Prepare and present proposals, including detailed scopes of work and cost breakdowns, to clients.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of costs, material prices, and labor rates.

Project Management

  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of milestones.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor project budgets, adjust plans to control costs, and address any deviations proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards on job sites.
  • Conduct regular site visits to oversee work progress and resolve on-site issues.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Administrative and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, schedules, and reports.
  • Track project performance, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Address and resolve client concerns or disputes professionally and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to manage billing and collections.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Related Field Experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in excavation, construction, or a similar industry.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Heavy Bid) and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, permits, and regulatory requirements.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in the construction industry.

Working Conditions

  • May involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment, and construction hazards.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as project demands require.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
