What are the responsibilities and job description for the DNEG is hiring: Layout Technical Supervisor (DNEG Animation) in Los Angeles position at DNEG?
DNEG Feature Animation has been growing over the past couple of years, bringing in the best talent to work on our shows. We aim to compete with the best in the business and our Layout Technical Supervisor plays an important part in driving the team to success.
In this role, you will work directly with multiple show’s crew and supervisors to solve technical issues, support and develop the layout department tools and techniques in support of current FEAT projects, and to advance the studio's layout capabilities.
Reporting to the Head of CG (HOCG) for feature animation and partnering with the Head of Layout, you will drive the tool development for the layout department, define development priorities, and partner with corresponding pipeline developers on tool development and testing, as well as plan and run department tech updates.
You will provide regular updates to the team, HOCG and fellow Tech Supervisors on current issues and developments in meetings and presentations. You will work on pipeline development pitches for new workflows for approval by HOCG and leadership team.
You will have the ability to acknowledge, diagnose and resolve issues throughout the production process and help the layout department team achieve artistic and production goals. Working closely with the Department Supervisors, VFX Supervisors and the Pipeline team, you will assist in integrating and maintaining the pipeline, acting as a point of contact for the layout department teams.
Must Have
- 5 years feature animation hands-on production experience
- Lead or Supervisor experience in Final or Rough Layout on two or more feature animation productions
- Proven knowledge of the feature animation pipeline for assets and shots
- Expert-level knowledge of Maya
- Experience with Unreal Engine
- In depth knowledge of USD for animation pipelines
- Technical workflow and tool experience, ability to translate HOD vision into technical requirements
- Strong technical and creative problem solving skills
- Solid understanding of Feature Animation pipeline and software
- Understanding of modern physically based rendering technology and pipelines; Katana, Houdini Solaris
