We have an incredible opportunity for a dynamic Senior Human Resources Manager to join our growing New York Team !

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage, motivate, and align employees with the company's vision and objectives .
  • Mediate disputes between employees and between employees and management, ensuring fair, unbiased conflict resolution.
  • Investigate and resolve grievances in accordance with company policies and labor agreements, ensuring that all parties are treated equitably.
  • Act as the primary liaison between management and union representatives, ensuring compliance with union agreements, addressing concerns, and managing the arbitration process.
  • Understand and navigate the complexities of unionized and non-union environments, adapting strategies to each context.
  • Implement and maintain clear, consistent disciplinary policies that comply with labor laws, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements (where applicable).
  • Oversee the execution of progressive disciplinary processes, addressing performance issues and policy infractions in a fair and timely manner.
  • Ensure that disciplinary actions are documented comprehensively, ensuring transparency and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Lead investigations into employee complaints, misconduct allegations, and performance issues while maintaining confidentiality, fairness, and impartiality.
  • Manage the company’s leave of absence policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
  • Oversee the return-to-work process for employees after extended leave, ensuring necessary accommodations and reintegration measures are in place.
  • Manage the complete termination process in accordance with legal standards and organizational policies, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Conduct exit interviews to gain valuable insights into employee departures and identify opportunities for workplace improvement.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to mitigate risks related to wrongful termination claims or other legal challenges.
  • Oversee workers compensation claims, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and a timely , effective resolution process.
  • Work closely with executive leadership to align HR strategies with the company’s business objectives , contributing to overall organizational success.
  • Lead and mentor the HR team, ensuring they have the necessary resources and skills to succeed in their roles.
  • Ensure the HR function operates efficiently within the allocated budget, aligning resources with business goals.
  • Monitor and analyze employee relations trends, disciplinary actions, and workers' compensation claims, providing actionable insights to management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, particularly in complex environments involving both union and non-union settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources , Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish is required to facilitate communication in a multicultural environment.
  • SHRM-SCP, PHR, or equivalent HR certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in employee relations, grievance resolution, HR investigations, and managing leave of absence policies (including FMLA).
  • Proficiency in HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and employee management systems.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment law, labor regulations, and union agreements.
  • Experience in managing unionized workforces, collective bargaining, and arbitration processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with employees, management, and union representatives.
  • Effective communicator who can mediate disputes and convey complex policies to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and navigate complex HR issues, including employee misconduct, policy violations, and legal compliance.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities and projects, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience leading and mentoring HR teams, with a strong track record of developing talent and improving HR practices.
