Purpose of Job
Academic Year 2025-26
To assist peer writers in any stage of the writing process (brainstorming, organization, proofreading, generating ideas, researching, etc.) for any purpose (academic, professional, or personal) via writing consultations, emails, or drop-ins.

General Description and Duties
- Lead consultations with writers (both scheduled appointments & walk-ins)
- Work with student writers to ensure adherence to a text’s instructions or purpose
- Guide student writers through sentence-level grammatical revisions as well as larger, global revisions
- Guide student writers through necessary citation methods (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.)
- Keep accurate data and records
- Assist students in scheduling appointments as needed
- Assist in training new consultants
- Attend regular meetings and training sessions as scheduled
- Plan & host public writing events
- Create writing resources for campus community
- Promote the Writing Center across campus
- Attend Student Leadership Training Summer (spring)
Special Skills or Knowledge Required
- Minimum 3.00 cum GPA
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to work well with peers in a polite, calm manner
- Ability to work with a diverse student body
- Confidence and enthusiasm about writing
- Open to learning, sharing, and reflecting about writing
- Problem-solving and critical thinking related to language and writing

Total Weekly Hours Required
$13.50/hour. Minimum of 6 hours/week; maximum of 17 hours/week.
