Reporting to the Director of the Tutoring and Writing Center, Professional Writing Tutors help students engage thoughtfully in writing and revision, offering empathy and feedback in 1 : 1 visits. Professional writing tutors should be experienced in long-form academic writing projects such as theses and dissertations.
Responsibilities :
- Support students in 1 : 1 tutoring sessions (in person and remote)
- Create resources, such as templates, visual aids, guides, checklists, or tip sheets to help students understand common writing challenges and expectations across disciplines
- Assist with writing groups and writing studios
- Develop and facilitate student-facing workshops based on interest and need
- Engage in supervisory meetings and team meetings as scheduled
- Complete visit notes for tutoring sessions; alert center leadership about any concerning sessions
- Engage in professional development, team building, and reflective practice
- Other duties as assigned
