What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent position at DOBCO INC?
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Construction Superintendent to manage the daily operations of the new Edison Magnet School project. This approximately 78,500-square-foot vocational high school (grades 9-12) is being built for Middlesex County Magnet Schools to support the expansion of the Career and Technical Education Program. The facility will focus on sustainable construction and environmental engineering, global logistics, robotics and drone technology, communications and cybersecurity technology, biotechnology and plant science, and sustainable energy technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Supervision: Manage all day-to-day construction activities, ensuring that work is completed according to the project schedule, specifications, and quality standards.
- Team Coordination: Supervise and direct subcontractors, laborers, and vendors on-site to ensure efficient work flow and coordination across all trades.
- Site Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular site inspections, and ensure compliance with OSHA and local building codes. Promote a safe working environment and address any safety issues immediately.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all construction work adheres to quality standards, blueprints, and project specifications. Address and resolve any quality issues on-site.
- Schedule Management: Monitor progress against the project schedule, identify potential delays, and adjust work plans to keep the project on track.
- Material & Equipment Management: Oversee the delivery, storage, and usage of materials and equipment on-site to ensure efficiency and prevent delays.
- Problem Resolution: Identify, address, and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process, including those related to site conditions, materials, or scheduling conflicts.
- Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for the Project Manager, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project progress and challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain daily logs of construction activities, inspections, safety meetings, and any issues encountered on-site. Ensure all necessary reports and documentation are up-to-date.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or Foreman on large-scale construction projects, particularly in educational or commercial facilities..
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, site safety, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical drawings.
