Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: Brevard ENT Center, Brevard County, FL
Position Overview: Brevard ENT Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. The Medical Assistant will provide essential clinical support to our medical providers and patients, ensuring high-quality care and efficient operations within our practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, verify medications, allergies, past surgeries, and medical history. Make patients comfortable and prepare them for examination.
- Clinical Support: Assist providers with procedures, take vital signs, and conduct medical histories. Ensure that all necessary medical data, such as X-rays, labs, CT scans, MRI reports, and dictations are available for the physician.
- Documentation: Update patient charts and start office notes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Document pertinent patient communications and respond to tasks created in the EMR.
- Instrument Maintenance: Clean and maintain medical instruments and equipment. Reorder and maintain inventory as necessary.
- Patient Coordination: Direct patients to checkout after visits, field triage calls, facilitate medication requests, and schedule appointments in the EMR.
- Referral Management: Direct hospital referrals to the appropriate physician on call.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant educational training course or equivalent medical/clinical work experience.
- Proficiency in using medical equipment and office equipment.
- Ability to assist patients in transferring from a wheelchair to an exam room chair.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in a high-traffic environment.
Physical Demands:
- Manual and physical dexterity sufficient to properly use various medical and office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist patients with mobility.
Working Conditions:
- Normal medical office environment with high traffic volume and potentially stressful situations requiring clear thinking and quick responses.
Supervision:
- Reports directly to the Practice Manager.
