What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Manager position at Dodge County Hospital?
Responsible for managing defined areas or activities of laboratory service. This may include managing testing activities of technical staff and/or support staff, consulting and supporting point of care testing inside the hospital, consulting and supporting testing in and for physician office practices, and/or managing the quality assurance and certification/accreditation activities required by accrediting agencies and the state and federal government. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of WCRMC. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. WORKING CONDITIONS General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related field (Required) In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree; an Associate Degree and a Minimum of 4 years additional relevant experience is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
4 - 6 years in Experience in a Hospital Laboratory Environment (Required)
MT Lab Duties (as needed)
Provides accurate and timely laboratory information based on the performance of analytical tests on human body substances. Correlates and interprets test data. This is done to detect evidence of or prevent disease or impairment and to promote and monitor good health. Monitors quality assurance and maintains laboratory instrumentation including all documentation. Follows established guidelines and protocols to provide requested clinical information to physicians, nurses, and other relevant health care personnel. Orients and trains new employees. In the
absence of direct supervision is able to temporarily act as a designated person in charge. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Washington County Regional Medical Center. Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For nonclinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
2 year / Associate Degree in Allied Health (Required)
4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science or related field (Preferred)
In lieu of an Associates Degree; a Minimum of 4 years additional relevant experience is acceptable.
REQUIRED LICENSURE
State Licensure as a Medical Technologist in the following specialties; blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
0 - 1 year in Ability to perform in one or more laboratory departments as a clinical laboratory scientist. (Preferred)
